Spring SIG Online Program

The SIG online program uses the Moodle learning platform and follows a STEAM + independent study format that is facilitated by the instructor via discussion forums and online activities. Students engage in unique learning experiences in varied areas of interest and then to apply their new knowledge to personally meaningful products.

Spring Online Program Overview:

  • Ages 5-17
  • 6-Week Session: April 27 – June 5
  • Application Deadline: Friday, April 17, 2020
  • Casual pace
  • Two course options per age group
  • Successful completion requires 4-6 hours of student engagement per week for each course
  • Receive a Student Performance Review (SPR) within three weeks of the close of the program providing an evaluation of student performance, key achievements, and suggestions for future study.
  • Eligibility Note: As eligibility documentation may be difficult to obtain quickly, SIG will accept one parent recommendation form for spring and summer 2020 courses.

Spring Session Structure:

Instructors post assignments and curricular materials on Mondays. Each week consists of an instructor video, discussions forum, weekly assignment, and reflection activity. Additionally, students participate in different activities and tasks toward a culminating product by the end of the session.

Summer SIG Online Program

SIG is offering a variety of summer online course options for ages 5-17 in three 3-week sessions. Students may enroll in multiple courses in multiple sessions, and enroll in online as well as campus-based programs (should on-site programs be available). Students may also transfer between online and on-campus programs without penalty, until the program enrollment deadlines. The 3-week Online Intensive Program offers students a virtual opportunity to experience our unique onsite courses available for the 2020 SIG summer. This program is intensive in that it provides new material daily and compresses our usual online learning courses into a 3-week span.

Summer Online Program Overview:

  • Ages 5-17
  • Three 3-Week Sessions
    • Session 1: June 22-July 10 (Application Deadline: Friday, June 12, 2020)
    • Session 2: July 13-July 31 (Application Deadline: Thursday, July 2, 2020)
    • Session 3: August 3-August 21 (Application Deadline: Friday, July 24, 2020)
  • Virtual social engagement component and opportunity to socialize with like-minded peers online
  • Intense pace
  • Variety of course options per age group

Summer Sessions Structure:

Course work is provided through the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) and follows a STEAM + approach. Instructors post assignments and curricular materials daily. Students access these assignments and have until the due date, within the week, to complete and submit (assignments and tasks will be due throughout the week as the instructor designates). Additionally, students are expected to participate in virtual video conference sessions hosted by the course instructor (2-3 sessions a week) for academic and social experiences.
